The #cantfly series of watercolour paintings was inspired after a long admission in hospital, and the challenges faced after discharge. Each depicts a challenge to re-engage with society, and the fears within that – although you have wings – you will forever be tethered to the ground.
The first painting in the #cantfly series, “If I could only fly” was painted the night I was discharged from hospital. I felt extremely vulnerable and stripped bare after being in hospital for so long, and this piece came out of my feelings and fears that – even with wings – I might never fly again. I believe this is one of the features in my gallery.
